After spending 16 years teaching school, I became a business woman by opening a small fabric store in Bar Harbor, Maine (where I grew up). I outgrew the location in 7 years and moved to a much larger building in Trenton, Maine. This past year, I opened an expansion store in Portland, Maine which is 3 hours south of corporate headquarters. I sell Pfaff sewing machines in both locations, repair machines, teach classes, and lead sewing adventures. My husband, who has a fulltime job with the electric company, assists with the grounds keeping and my son, a professional musician, is repairing machines at the Portland store. My daughters, aged 20 and 24, assist in running the shop when I am in desperate need of help. They both are very creative and adequate sewers but prefer to follow their dreams: the older is an architect and the younger a musician.
